I am a NURSING, WORKING, TEACHER, MOMMY: TODAY is The First Day, of the REST of my career…

Today, I returned to work….

Today, was the first day of the rest of my career as a working mommy….

Today, my world was rocked, leaving my baby as I went to work knowing that my maternity leave was officially over… (I was only going to have 6 weeks since the leave was unpaid but we stretched it as long as possible with workshops and conferences… and a committed understanding husband willing to work EXTRA so I could be with our baby AS LONG AS POSSIBLE!)

One of the “updates” I received today…

Speaking of Paul… Today, I am indescribably grateful for my husband… today, I was fortunate enough to leave my baby WITH HIS DADDY… He and his Googi (my mommy) will be caring for him as I work this year. This is the best case scenario. How fortunate are we!? How LUCKY is he!??! I know that leaving him this morning was 100% easier than some have it… Seeing him squealing with love and joy in the arms of his daddy darling, while being showered with kissies from his ever patient, ever adoring sissy, Isla Rose.

This was my surprise send off this morning… they came running out to see me off.. (a very important tradition in our family but it has always been ME with the kids sending PAUL off to work!)

Here we are, July 22, 2019 and the staff and faculty of Bricolage Academy are gathered together in our beautiful gym to start off the new year…

My incredible, irreplaceable, enthusiastic, diverse, AWE-INSPIRING, co-curricular TEAM!

Was I ready to leave him?? No, but are you ever really “ready”… I had more maternity leave than most women can dream of in this country… 5 beautiful months that FLEW by… 5 months to cuddle and snuggle and love on this incredible human that Paul and I created together. (Granted several conferences were sprinkled in that time but he came with me to ALL of them! So far he’s been to 7 states and 1 country YAY, Canada!)

So, on this, the first day of the 9th year of my teaching career, I find myself at the beginning of a whole new chapter of my life as a working mommy….

To all of you working mommies out there… woah… y’all are AH-MAZ-ING! WE are amazing! How fortunate are our kiddos to learn from us, and look up to us as they grow?! We are beautiful, passionate, and we are STRONG! I am so lucky to call myself part of this community. THANK YOU to those of you who reached out to me through text, email, Instagram, and Facebook today… I feel so supported, encouraged and LOVED!

Love, love, love, each and every one of you!

Until next time,

HAPPY TEACHING! (or hopefully summering… for most of you still!)

Love,

La Maestra (and mamá¡) Loca
